I am a middle school language arts teacher who encourages her students to put themselves out there and overcome their fears to accomplish their desires. The harder it is, the more I’ll push. I have found that I should be taking my own advice, but that seems to be the hardest advice to take. I have my own fears of putting my writing out there for the public to read, and this is why I decided to start this blog.
This blog is a place where my students will link their work, and where I will show them I’m going to let go of fear and post my own writing too.
No longer will I allow my ideas to hatch like mayflies, dancing around one another in my head, time suffocating their existence. Like I say, fear is a suffocating habit – so let fear sink into the shadows as my words dance with liberation onto the page.
Interested in doing some writing with 8th graders from Wisconsin?!
Let me know what you’re thinking. Mine are 6th grade though – just in case that throws a wrench in your thoughts. I’m planning on definitely doing something with them throughout the month of march. Message me or email me if you want to chat more. mkturner@highlandschool.org
